Two-Day Composting Training for Marginalized Women in Birendranagar Municipality (Ward No. 6)

CLEAN UP NEPAL, in close coordination with Birendranagar Municipality and support of Standard Chartered Nepal (Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited), successfully conducted a two-days composting training for marginalized women of Birendranagar Municipality; Ward No. 6 of Pragati Tole, Shanti Tole and Pulchowk Tole. A total of 33 participants attended the training session.

The training session was facilitated by Ms. Karuna Thapa. The program provided participants with comprehensive knowledge on household waste management and practical composting techniques.

Throughout the sessions, participants were oriented on waste scenario in Surkhet, the importance of waste segregation, 3R principle (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). In addition, the participants were introduced to the concept of compost, the various types of compost, and its significance in sustainable waste management.

The training concluded with a hands-on practical session on bin composting, enabling participants to apply the skills they had learned. To further support the implementation of composting practices at the household level, compost bins were distributed to all participants. This initiative aims to strengthen community-based waste management and promote environmentally responsible practices within the municipality.
