Two-Day Composting Training for Marginalized Women Conducted in Birendranagar Ward No. 4
CLEAN UP NEPAL, in close coordination with Birendranagar Municipality, successfully organized a two-day composting training for the marginalized women of Birendranagar Ward No. 4 on 5-6 December 2025. The training was facilitated by Ms. Karuna Thapa. A total of 33 participants attended the training session. In addition to the trainees, the Ward Chairperson of Ward No. 4 and representatives from Standard Chartered Nepal ( Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited), Surkhet Branch Office, Chief of Environment and Monitoring Division of Birendranagar Municipality were also present, demonstrating strong institutional engagement and support for the initiative. Throughout the sessions, participants were oriented on waste scenario in Surkhet, the importance ofwast e segregation, 3R principle (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). In addition, the participants were introduced to the concept of compost, the various types of compost, and its significance in sustainable waste management.
The training concluded with a hands-on practical session on bin composting, enabling participants to apply the skills they had learned. To further support the implementation of composting practices at the household level, compost bins were distributed to all participants. This initiative aims to strengthen community-based waste management and promote environmentally responsible practices within the municipality.
