World Environment Day 2025: Community Clean-Up in Nepalgunj
On June 5, 2025, a large-scale community clean-up campaign was successfully conducted in Maniharan Tole, Ward 2, Nepalgunj as part of the Green Nepalgunj: Community Waste Transformation Project, funded by The Coca-Cola Foundation. The event was organized by BAS Nepal, with technical support from CLEAN UP NEPAL and in collaboration with Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City (नेपालगन्ज उपमहानगरपालिका).
The campaign brought together 45 participants, including local officials, sanitation workers, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and community members. Together, they collected a total of 257.62 kg of waste, which included:
- ♻️ 2.3 kg of plastic bottles
- ♻️ 63.44 kg of plastic bags and polythene
- ♻️ 28.3 kg of glass
- ♻️ 13.85 kg of paper
- 🗑️ 149.73 kg of mixed waste
Recyclables were securely stored at the BAS Nepal premises, while non-recyclables were handed over to the municipal waste management center for proper disposal.
This collaborative effort demonstrates the power of collective action in advancing sustainable waste management. Together, we continue to build cleaner, greener cities for all.
