Vocational Training Workshop Empowers Lalitpur Youth in Waste Management
CLEAN UP NEPAL successfully hosted a five-day vocational training workshop on waste management from November 11 to 15, 2024, in Ward-9 of ललितपुर महानगरपालिका कार्यालय (Lalitpur Metropolitan City Office). The event, part of the “Green Empowerment through Vocational Training for Solid Waste Management in Lalitpur” (GEMS-L) project, was supported by Berliner Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit mbH (BGZ) and funded by the State Office for Development Cooperation (LEZ).
The workshop trained youths aged 18 to 40 on waste segregation, management policies, global and national waste contexts, and strategies for 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) businesses. A total of 32 individuals, including 25 core attendees, participated. Special remarks were delivered by Amir Maharjan, Ward Member of Ward-9, while the workshop was virtually inaugurated by Dr. Sisira Withanachchi, Project Manager of BGZ.
Facilitators Yogesh Shakya and Ramita Maharjan ensured engaging sessions, and CLEAN UP NEPAL’s Executive Director, Mr. Rabindra Lamichhane, highlighted the importance of collaboration for sustainable waste management. This initiative reflects their commitment to empowering communities through education and action.
