Successful Cleanup Campaign in Ward 7 of Lalitpur
A successful cleanup campaign was conducted in Ward 7 of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Office, where 83 dedicated volunteers, ward officials, and CLEAN UP NEPAL staff collected a total of 74.9 kg of waste from various locations, including Tyagal, Hakdol, Dhalacheen, Sundhara, Shiddi Laxmi, Bhimsen Chowk, Shokwa, Dupat, Bhinxeybaal, and Dwyaku. The waste audit revealed 5.4 kg of PET bottles (169 pieces), 26.7 kg of plastic wrappers, 1.8 kg of glass bottles (10 pieces), 4.5 kg of metal cans, and 36.5 kg of mixed waste.
Ward Chairperson Kul Bahadur Maharjan expressed his motivation to participate in such initiatives and committed to continuing these efforts at the ward level. Rabindra Lamichhane, Executive Director of CLEAN UP NEPAL, emphasized the importance of waste segregation at the source, particularly plastics, metals, and wrappers, to maximize the value of waste.
This event was part of the “Green Empowerment through Vocational Training for Solid Waste Management in Lalitpur (GEMS-L)” project, funded by the State Office for Development Cooperation (LEZ), supported by BGZ Berliner Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit mbH, and implemented by CLEAN UP NEPAL.
