Enhancing Waste Management in Ghorahi: A Step Towards a Cleaner Community
CLEAN UP NEPAL recently handed over a bailing machine to Dil Bahadur Sarki, the owner of the Rapti Kawad Collection Centre in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City, Ward No. 16, Karautedanda. This machine is designed to compress cardboard and plastic waste, marking a significant improvement in the area’s waste management capabilities. Previously, plastic bottles would accumulate in large quantities, making it challenging for Mr. Sarki to transport them due to the lack of effective compression techniques. The new bailing machine now allows for the reduction of plastic waste volume by up to one-third, enabling more efficient transportation and allowing larger quantities to be moved at once.
This initiative was made possible through a collaborative effort between Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan, the Federal Kamalari Development Forum, and CLEAN UP NEPAL, with generous support from IM Swedish Development Partner. By providing essential tools like the bailing machine, the project aims to improve waste management and recycling efficiency, ultimately contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable community in Ghorahi. This effort not only supports local businesses like the Rapti Kawad Collection Centre but also sets a positive example for sustainable waste practices in the region. Together, these organizations are taking meaningful steps towards a greener future, ensuring better waste management for all.
