CLEAN UP NEPAL Conducts Successful Vocational Training on Waste Management

From October 23 to 27, 2024, CLEAN UP NEPAL successfully conducted a five-day vocational training workshop on waste management at the Lalitpur Metropolitan City Office (LMC), Ward-7. The workshop was part of the “Green Empowerment through Vocational Training for Solid Waste Management in Lalitpur” (GEMS-L) project, supported by Berliner Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit mbH (BGZ) and funded by the State Office for Development Cooperation (LEZ).

Aimed at equipping youths aged 18 to 40 with entrepreneurial skills in solid waste management, the workshop covered key topics such as waste segregation, waste management policies, the global and national waste context, and strategies for 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) business development. Of the 30 participants, 64% were female.

Special remarks were delivered by Debendra Shakya, Ward Member of Ward-7, Lalitpur. Nicola Humpert, Managing Director of BGZ, and Dr. Sisira Withanachchi, Project Manager at BGZ, virtually shared insights on global waste management perspectives. Ms. Binita Pandey, Project Lead, outlined the project’s objectives, while Rabindra Lamichhane, Executive Director of CLEAN UP NEPAL, emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration. The training was facilitated by Madhya Bindu Pvt. Ltd.
