CLEAN UP NEPAL concludes Stakeholder Consultation Workshop in Waling Municipality
On 11 December 2021, CLEAN UP NEPAL organized a one-day Stakeholder Consultation Workshop among the members of wards and municipality executives of Waling municipality. The workshop consisted of sessions on the importance of open data for improved measurement of policies, better government efficiency, and greater citizen participation; Impacts of waste burning and air pollution and the need to address it; and the need and importance of 3R’s in the present context for waste management. CLEAN UP NEPAL team also shared insights and findings on the household survey and mapping in the municipality. This marks an end to the ‘Integration of Nepal Waste Map in Waling Municipality’ project in the municipality. The data and features of the Nepal Waste Map will be integrated into the Smart Waling mobile application.
More than 35 people attended the workshop, where many facilitators shared their perspectives and research on the various variables that aid the environment to thrive. In addition, a smart dustbin especially designed for the municipality; PPEs for waste workers; and 2 awareness signage were handed over to the municipality along with the survey report created by CLEAN UP NEPAL based on the data obtained from data mapping and collection.
