Celebrating World Environment Day with Action in Rasuwa
On the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, CLEAN UP NEPAL, with funding support from ICIMOD and in collaboration with Gosaikunda Rural Municipality – Ward 6 Dhunche and Langtang National Park, successfully organized a community clean-up event in Dhunche, Rasuwa. The event mobilized a total of 109 participants, including 49 representatives from the District Administration Office, Forest Office, Treasury Control Office, Nepal Army, and Armed Police Force, alongside over 60 students and teachers from Shree Rasuwa Secondary School.
Together, the group collected 143.4 kg of waste, actively contributing to a cleaner and healthier mountain environment. A brand audit conducted during the clean-up revealed that the most commonly littered items included Gutka (tobacco), Center Fruit wrappers, Chinese-brand snacks, Wai Wai, Roji Kulfi, Happydent, Dabur Hajmola, Cadbury, and Pilot cigarettes, identifying 56 different brands. These findings underscore the urgent need to address plastic consumption and raise awareness about littering and pollution in sensitive ecosystems.
Let’s continue working together to protect our pristine mountain landscapes and strive for a plastic-free future.
