14th River Clean up Event: A Collective Step Towards a Cleaner Bagmati!
On 1st March 2025, we successfully conducted the 14th River Clean up Campaign along the Bagmati River corridor in Kathmandu. With the dedication of 66 volunteers and the support of 23 community members, we made a significant impact together!
Through our collective efforts, we removed a total of 1,572.217 kg of waste, including:
Plastic: 880.397 kg
Textiles: 52.2 kg
Glass: 108.08 kg
Mixed waste: 531.54 kg
This clean-up not only restores our rivers but also strengthens community engagement in waste management. Every small effort counts towards a cleaner, healthier future. Let’s continue working together to protect our environment!
The campaign is part of the RIVER+ project funded by the Plastic Free Rivers and Seas for South Asia Project, implemented by the South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme, supported by World Bank, and with implementing support from UNOPS. The project is led by Biocomp Nepal in partnership with People in Need Nepal and CLEAN UP NEPAL.
Together, we are committed to combating plastic pollution and protecting our rivers!
