Safa Nepal Expands to New Regions
On August 20, 2024, CLEAN UP NEPAL formally signed an agreement with Lamahi Municipality, followed by a second agreement with Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City on August 21, 2024. These agreements were signed by Mr. Rabindra Lamichhane, Executive Director of CLEAN UP NEPAL, alongside Mr. Jog Raj Chaudhary, Mayor of Lamahi Municipality, and Mr. Naru Lal Chaudhary, Mayor of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City.
To facilitate the smooth rollout of the Safa Nepal application, hands-on training was provided to local government officials, teaching them how to effectively use and manage the platform. The launch of Safa Nepal in these municipalities is financially supported by the IM Swedish Development Partner under the “Intersectional Green Futures: Advancing Climate Justice for All” project.
Safa Nepal is an open-data waste management and data collection system, featuring both a web-based dashboard and mobile application. It enables local governments to carry out powerful, evidence-based analyses of waste-related data, manage waste collection and disposal services, and provide timely information to the public. Additionally, it allows citizens to report issues such as waste dumping, burning, or irregular waste collection services.
