Climate Action and Justice

CLEAN UP NEPAL is committed to fostering climate resilience, environmental justice, and sustainable development through integrated community-centered strategies. Our approach emphasizes community-based climate adaptation and mitigation initiatives, supporting local populations to implement practical solutions, such as sustainable agriculture, flood and landslide resilience measures, and urban green infrastructure, to cope with climate impacts.
A key element of our strategy is advocacy for climate policy and environmental justice, ensuring that communities, particularly vulnerable and marginalized groups, have a voice in decision-making processes. CLEAN UP NEPAL actively engages in dialogues, consultations, and networks at local, national, and international levels to influence policy, promote transparency, and strengthen governance on climate and environmental issues.
To generate sustainable livelihoods and promote economic resilience, we focus on the promotion of green jobs and nature-based solutions, linking climate adaptation activities with skill development, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities in renewable energy, waste management, and ecosystem restoration. Carbon credit and plastic credit programs are integrated as market-based mechanisms to incentivize climate-friendly practices and mobilize financing for community and ecosystem interventions.
CLEAN UP NEPAL also prioritizes research, surveys, and budget analysis to inform interventions and advocate for evidence-based allocation of climate financing. This includes baseline studies, situation analysis, and comparative studies on environmental and climate budgets. These data-driven insights strengthen partnerships with local governments, international organizations, and donor agencies to mobilize resources and promote equitable climate action.
Our strategy includes large-scale plantation drives and ecosystem restoration, coupled with networking and international affiliations, including membership in Provinical level Climate Action and Justice Networks, fostering solidarity actions across nationally and globally. We emphasize environmental human rights, adaptation, and resilience building, ensuring that all programs are inclusive, rights-based, and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Through a holistic strategy combining community engagement, policy advocacy, research, green economic development, and international collaboration, CLEAN UP NEPAL support to advance climate justice, strengthen resilience, and empower communities to respond effectively to climate challenges while promoting sustainable development pathways.
