Environmental Education

CLEAN UP NEPAL recognizes environmental education as a critical foundation for fostering sustainable behaviors and a culture of responsibility among future generations. Our strategy focuses on integrating zero waste principles, climate awareness, and sustainable resource management into schools, households, and communities to create lasting environmental impact.
A cornerstone of our approach is the Scale-up of Zero Waste At Schools (ZWAS), targeting both public and private schools/ colleges. Through hands-on learning, infrastructure support, and awareness campaigns, we aim to make schools centers of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Complementing this, we conduct capacity- building programs for households and institutions, promoting segregation of waste, composting, and responsible consumption practices.
CLEAN UP NEPAL actively develops curricula on sustainable solid waste management and environmental topics at the school level, ensuring that learning is age-appropriate, interactive, and practical. Innovative initiatives such as Book-Free Friday, Skill Development Fair, exposure visit, and connecting children with nature are designed to cultivate environmental consciousness, experiential learning, and a deeper appreciation for ecosystems.
Our strategy integrates research, knowledge sharing, and digital learning initiatives, providing schools, teachers, and students access to evidence-based resources and interactive platforms. Vocational training and entrepreneurship skill development are incorporated to link education with practical livelihood opportunities, promoting green jobs and circular economy practices among youth.
Media campaigns and outreach programs under the Zero Waste Nepal initiative amplify awareness at the community level, encouraging societal adoption of sustainable practices beyond schools. Through participatory approaches, CLEAN UP NEPAL fosters collaboration among students, educators, parents, and local authorities, creating a network of informed and responsible citizens. By combining formal education, experiential learning, digital tools, and community engagement, CLEAN UP NEPAL support to nurture environmentally conscious generations, reduce waste, and embed sustainability as a way of life, ultimately contributing to resilient communities and a healthier environment.
