A rapid assessment was undertaken by the Clean up Nepal team on Thursday, 12 June 2014 of areas within the Kathmandu Durbar Square Buffer zone area. The Kathmandu Durbar Square Buffer Zone is an area within the world heritage monument zone area, which consists of mainly residential homes centered around chowks. These older residential homes are of significance in their role in providing coherence to the urban form in the area. Clean up Nepal is exploring the possibility of working with residents to improve solid waste management in areas such as Jhochhen, Lagan, Bhimsenthan, Maruhity, Dalachhi, Tahani and Ombahal, among others.
