Clean up Nepal 2014 World Environment Week

Clean up Nepal participated in a numb10356361_658037837600871_8380659113138597592_ner of events as part of World Environment Week.

To celebrate World Environment Day, Clean up Nepal organised a community clean at Chuchhepati on Wednesday, 4 June 2014 jointly with Didi Bahini Samuha, Rastriya Berojgar Yuba Sangh and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The cleanup started from the Didi Bahini Samuha office at 7.30am and ended at the Pani Tanki, Mahankal at 9.00am. Waste segregation was also carried out during the cleanup. The collected plastic was handed to the Didi Bahini Samuha for sale. Clean up Nepal’s Sandip Paudel, Ashish Khanal, Suman Khadka, Prasuj Mainali, Sumi Thapa, Suza Giri, Bindu Bhandari and Vibek Gupta participated in the event. Community members, wards officials, K.L.Tower, Pani Pokhari Yuwa Club, Maiju Bahal Tole Sudhar Samiti and Kathmandu Vidya Mandir also participated. Altogether 96 participants took part in the cleanup.


Clean up Nepal organized a ‘Greeting Cards Making Workshop’ to celebrate World Environment Week on 6 June 2014. 16 volunteers turned 120 pieces of recycled paper into beautiful greeting cards. The participants were very enthusiastic to learn new methods of making cards.


Clean up Nepal also participated in an exhibition on rooftop gardening organized by Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) on Saturday, 07 April 2014. Clean up Nepal is working currently in the Pepsicola area in order to make it a litter-free neighborhood. The rooftop vegetables of the community members were displayed at the exhibition. Recently compost bins have been distributed to community members in Pepsicola after a training session by Clean up Nepal.
